Education and Employment Policy Working Group |

This policy working group is composed of representatives of the Department of Education and Science, FÁS, the VECs, local partnerships, schools and colleges, the Education Welfare Service and other interests. The purpose of the group is to develop innovative solutions to problems of educational and skills disadvantage in Dublin. It initiated and oversaw a range of actions of the Pact in the educational area, notably the Programme Learning at Work and the project Guidance Services for ex-Prisoners.

The Group has also organised a range of seminars, conferences and policy meetings, most recently (May 2007) a Think In on future educational policy priorities for the Pact. This Think In was addressed by Kay Hallahan of the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs and Gerard Walker of the National Economic and Social Forum. The seminar was attended by invited representatives from FÁS, the Department of Education, IBEC, ICTU, local partnerships, Dublin VECs, and members of the Policy Working Group.
